Where did you study?
I studied dentistry at ACTA Amsterdam.
Why did you decide to study dentistry? And what did you think of the programme?
I was already fascinated by the dentist from a young age. Since going to secondary school the wish has only grown and when I visited the open day for the dental school I knew for sure. Unfortunately, I had a long wait as there were limited numbers, but I got in the third time round. All the nicer that I did of course! The dentistry programme was really great, lots of contact hours and a nice balance between practice and theory.
As a dentist, why did you want to work at Tandarts Jordaan?
I thought it would be lovely to work in a big team. It’s a very modern practice, where all the newest techniques are used too, and that really appealed to me.
Can you still remember your first dentist? What kind of person were they? And did you like your visits to the dentist?
My original dentist was a friend of my father. He is one of the main reasons behind my enthusiasm for the profession!
How do you look after your teeth? Do you really brush twice a day? And do you snack during the day?
I brush my teeth twice a day with an electric toothbrush. And I also use wooden toothpicks every day.
What did you want to grow up to be?
Dentist! 🙂
When you’re helping people, what gives you the most satisfaction? And what do you do to ensure every patient leaves the practice happy?
I think it’s important that people feel comfortable and listened to by their dentist. And, I think patients need to understand what’s happening in their mouth; so I always try to clearly explain what’s happening and involve them during the treatment.
What prejudgement about dentists would you like to get rid of?
It’s a real shame that so many people are scared of the dentist. I hope that at Tandarts Jordaan we make a real contribution so that fewer people have anxiety about visiting the dentist.
What plans do you have for your future in dentistry?
I’d like to continue developing as a dentist. Perhaps with the help of additional training. Such as surgical techniques, endodontics and restorative dentistry.
Why do you think people should opt for Tandarts Jordaan?
Tandarts Jordaan is a modern practice where people can come for all sorts of treatments. The practice follows the most up-to-date protocols and uses the most recent techniques and materials. That means we can provide really high-quality care.
What would be your top tip for maintaining good dental hygiene?
Brush twice a day with an electric toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, and use wooden toothpicks! And regularly visit the dentist and dental hygienist.
